My Story: From Overwhelmed Parent to

The Mum to Mum Coach

I've always been fascinated by human psychology and how our experiences shape us; curious about what drives our behaviour, what makes us tick, and how adversity can stand in our way. My career started in the mental health sector, supporting adults with psychosis, acute schizophrenia, manic depression, obsessive compulsive disorder and anxiety. I was fascinated by the complexity of the brain, what happens when the network of wiring and connections is faulty and how fragile the brain is to lived experience. I wanted to learn more.

After four years, I left university with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Psychology and a strong passion for using this knowledge to enhance the lives of others. I moved into Brain Injury Rehabilitation, helping people regain cognitive and physical independence following trauma. I loved the challenge and fulfilment of guiding people on their journey to a more meaningful life. But it was becoming a mum that truly shifted my perspective.

Parenthood was much harder than I expected. I lost my sense of identity, and the demands of motherhood, along with guilt and self-doubt, left me feeling lost, and like I was never good enough. What should have been a joyful chapter felt overwhelming. Low mood and an inner critic became constant companions. I was giving everything to my family but nothing to myself, and self-care felt impossible.

A few years later, I was diagnosed with un-treated postnatal depression. This diagnosis helped me realise that my feelings were valid, and therapy gave me the tools I needed to begin healing. Therapy had been the right intervention for me at the time, but once I reached a place where I was ready to grow and move on, coaching stepped in and truly transformed my life.

Through coaching, I found a safe space to explore my emotions, build self-compassion, and rediscover confidence as a parent. I learned the importance of prioritising my well-being, and realised self-care and self-compassion were the foundation of emotional wellness. This ultimately helped me be a more patient, present, and balanced parent. I had and began to see the power of vulnerability as a tool for change. I broke free from disempowering beliefs, the cycle of self doubt, and let go of perfection, and began parenting with confidence and compassion. By honouring my own well-being, I could better nurture both myself and my family.

Once my children started school, inspired by the power of coaching, I re-trained as an Emotional Wellbeing Coach, juggling family life and my studies. This was no easy feat. I was juggling the demands of being a full-time mum, running a household, and re-identifying myself to return to work. It was hard. The familiar feelings of overwhelm, self-doubt, and not "good enough" started to creep back in. But this time, I was ready. I had the tools and the unwavering support of fellow Coaches to guide me through the transition. With courage, vulnerability, and determination, I succeeded.

Now, I’m here to guide you through your own journey. With the tools and skills I’ve gained, I’ll help you step into the mum and person you want to be, empowering you to create the life you deserve for yourself and your family. Coaching gave me something I had never found before; empowerment. Now, I’m here to empower you.

Let’s start writing your story!
